These men and women are on-call around the clock and respond to bushfires, floods, cyclones, storms and land and sea search and rescue operations.

The annual Fire and Emergency Service Awards recognise these ordinary West Australians who make extraordinary contributions to our community.

Nominations are now open for a variety of awards including the Firefighting Awards, State Emergency Service Awards and Volunteer Marine Rescue Services Awards.

In 2015 award winners were nominated for a number of reasons, including putting aside their own needs to help the community prepare and respond to Tropical Cyclone Olwyn in March 2015, helping children to develop fire safe skills and leading brigades that travelled thousands of kilometres across the State to fight bushfires.

Nominations close on Wednesday 4 May at 4pm, with winners to be announced during the 2016 WA Fire and Emergency Services Conference in September.
